God is in the intimate

What is often quoted in English as Jesus saying, “Only through me do you come to God,” is more accurately understood—when read through earlier Aramaic meanings—it wasn't that he was claiming exclusivity, but rather a statement about intimacy. The emphasis is not on Jesus as a gatekeeper, but on the quality of relationship: that it is through closeness, presence, and deep relational knowing that one communes with God. God is in the intimate.
